This highly-anticipated concert marks a special moment for the community, bringing together professional musicians and talented local singers under the direction of chorus master Tom Primrose for one of the most powerful choral works ever composed.

The performance will feature a stellar line-up of rising British soloists, including soprano Hilary Cronin, who returns following her acclaimed appearance at last year’s festival where the Festival Chorus celebrated their 25th anniversary with a special concert.

The Missa Solemnis concert is one of three major orchestral events at this year’s Newbury Spring Festival, which runs from 10 to 24 .

Kicking off the festival on May 10, the world-renowned English Chamber Orchestra will perform a stunning programme featuring Bulgarian pianist Emanuil Ivanov, winner of the Busoni and Newbury Spring Festival’s Sheepdrove Piano Competitions, in Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1.

Known for his dazzling technique and expressive depth, Ivanov’s performance promises to be a festival highlight.

On May 17, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Martyn Brabbins, will bring Beethoven’s Symphony No 7 to life, alongside a performance of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto by Swedish violinist Johan Dalene.

A BBC New Generation Artist, Dalene has been hailed as one of the most exciting young violinists of his generation, making his Newbury debut a must-see event.

With its outstanding orchestral line-up and the special involvement of Newbury’s Festival Chorus, the Newbury Spring Festival 2025 is set to be a memorable celebration of classical music.
