Madness plus special guests Lightning Seeds and Old Time Sailors
Known for their raucous live sets, Madness will headline on Friday.
Expect a show teeming with hits from the nutty boys' unrivalled back catalogue along with songs from the new album ‘Theatre of the Absurd Presents C'est la Vie’, which on Friday became the band’s first studio album to top the UK Album Charts.
With their huge singles such as ‘One Step Beyond’, ‘Baggy Trousers’, ‘House of Fun’, ‘Our House’, and more, Madness have become one of the most celebrated British bands of all-time since their emergence from Camden Town in the 1970s. Among many awards the band have received, in 2000 they were awarded an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Song Collection.
Lightning Seeds are the brainchild of writer, singer, guitarist and producer Ian Broudie. Celebrating their 35th anniversary in 2024, Ian as Lightning Seeds released debut album ‘Cloudcukooland’ featuring the hit single ‘Pure’ in 1989. Second album ‘Sense’ followed before the release of the seminal album ‘Jollification’ in 1994 which has so far sold nearly 1 million copies. In 1996 the iconic single ‘3 Lions’ for the England football team topped the charts many times over.
The show will be opened by the Old Time Sailors, who take audiences back to the 19th century with their immersive experience of seafaring music performed with traditional instruments.
Pete Tong Ibiza Classics plus special guests The Grid, Groove Armada (DJ Set)
Revered DJ, broadcaster and global dance music legend, Pete Tong will bring his Ibiza Classics show to the grounds of Englefield House on Saturday. A pillar of dance music with an unparalleled ear for new talent, Pete Tong is one of the world’s most influential musical figures.
Joined by Jules Buckley and featuring the Essential Orchestra, Ibiza Classics has cemented itself as part of the live music calendar, becoming the world's most iconic orchestral electronic music event. Celebrating the legacy of dance music, the live show showcases the stunning re-imaginings of timeless classic house tracks.
The show will feature “very special guests” The Grid, who are reuniting their full, original line-up for the first time in more than 20 years. An exclusive UK performance, they will be playing all of their greatest hits. Emerging out of the UK Acid House scene of the late 80s, The Grid became one of the most influential and popular electronic dance bands of the 90s and beyond.
Dave Ball and Richard Norris notched up 10 UK hit singles, including the Balearic classic 'Floatation' and the million selling worldwide hit 'Swamp Thing'.
They toured all over the UK and Europe, and further afield to Thailand, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand, with a startling audiovisual show featuring banks of TV sets and a cracking live band. The Grid were also regular visitors to Top Of The Pops, and have performed on numerous TV and radio shows.
Both Dave and Richard have since created many productions and remixes, Dave working with Marc Almond as Soft Cell, and Richard working solo and with Erol Alkan as Beyond The Wizards Sleeve. The Grid return with the full original line up and a brand new audio visual show, created by BATFA winning film director Kieran Evans. Watch the skies!
One of the planet’s best-loved and biggest selling dance acts Groove Armada will also be joining the line-up, performing one of their legendary DJ sets and the party kicks off from 1pm with a set from a rising star from the Pete Tong DJ Academy.
Elbow, plus special guests Villagers and Hamish Hawk
The multi-platinum-selling band fronted by Guy Garvey will perform a selection of their biggest anthems along with new material from their latest album Audio Vertigo on Sunday..
One of Britain’s most loved and respected bands, Elbow gained early support from the late John Peel with their debut EP Noisebox and their popularity soared.
Over the past two decades, the Mancunians have released numerous no1 albums, most notably their 2008 Mercury Prize-winning effort The Seldom Seen Kid’, a multi-platinum selling record that opened the floodgates for further accolades, including an NME Award, Mojo Award, BRIT Award and a several Ivor Novello prizes.Elbow
Throughout their 30-year history, elbow’s critical reception has remained impressively consistent. They are the only band to receive four consecutive 9/10 reviews from NME for their first four records and this year, as they release their 10th studio album, an opening performance on the Graham Norton Show gives an early indication that this is a group that remains at the top of their game.
Recorded in 2023 at the band’s individual studios, Migration Studios, Gloucestershire, and finalised at the band’s facility at Blueprint Studios, Salford, the new album marks a significant step change for the group following 2021’s Flying Dream 1.
In the words of lead singer and lyricist Guy Garvey, AUDIO VERTIGO was built from ‘gnarly, seedy grooves created by us playing together in garagey rooms’ and is both more direct and sonically varied by purpose that its predecessor.
As a live band, elbow are hard to beat. Their 2011 Glastonbury performance on the Pyramid stage is widely regarded as one of the best in the festival’s history.
The band have since toured the world, earning a reputation for their euphoric live performances that continue to captivate audiences.
Fans of elbow can expect to hear material from the band’s new album along with anthemic hits from their back catalogue such as One Day Like This, Grounds for Divorce and Open Arms.
