Spend a creative weekend at Modern Makers summerschool in coaching barn at the heart of farm in Oxfordshire
Ever wanted to make your own jewellery, learn how to carve a lino print or fancied a go at basketry? With the expert craftspeople of Modern Makers Collective you can do all of these and more at a Summer School near Wallingford next month.
You may well be familiar with the makers of the ever popular Yattendon Winter Market who will be sharing their skills and love of their crafts with you during the weekends of July 20/21 and 27/28 at The Coaching Barn, Littlestoke Manor Farm.
The workshops offer a range of opportunities to try techniques and explore new mediums.
There is jewellery making to stitching lampshades, textile printing and lino printing, or working with natural materials of willow, flowers and foliage taught by seven skilled designer-makers.
To welcome the joy of summer, Jane Body will be bringing the colours of her Berkshire garden to The Coaching Barn, near Wallingford, where you can learn how to make a reusable, natural moss wreath which can be used for all your summer festivities.
Also working with nature is Louise Arthur who will help you weave willow into a gorgeous basket for collecting foraged foods or displaying in the home.
If textiles are your passion you have a choice of Aimée Alice Payton’s abundant fabric collection and she will guide you in making your own beautiful handstitched, gathered lampshade.
Or you could learn how to design, cut a block and print your own fabric in Albert Harvey’s block printing workshop which will then be made into a cushion for you.
You can get creative with jeweller Kate Wilkinson and experiment with hammering and creating textures on copper and brass shapes and making them into exciting earrings and necklaces. While Charlotte Berry will be teaching how to make a set of silver stacking rings using traditional silversmithing techniques.
And if you would like to explore your artistic side, you can join Mark from Lino Lord, who will be sharing his expert skills in how to cut and print lino and create a unique work of art.
All of this is taking place in The Coaching Barn which is at the heart of Littlestoke Manor Farm. It is filled to the rafters with inspiring books, artwork and objects, making it the perfect space to bring creativity and learning together.
With all materials and refreshments provided, with optional lunch from The Goring Grocer, there is nothing for you to do except enjoy a relaxing workshop or two.
