A Midsummer Night’s Dream comes to life on the picturesque lawn of Wolfson College cricket ground in Oxford
“Back in the 90s we took our young son to a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream as dusk fell in the woodland of Headington Hill Park.
“It was magical,” says Arts Editor Trish Lee.
“And so began my love for the work of Oxford based site-specific theatre company Creation.”
The award-winning company is now presenting William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream again on Wolfson College Cricket Ground until August 16.
Our @newburytoday reviewer will be there this weekend… we wouldn’t miss it.
“Are you sure that we are awake? It seems to me that yet we sleep, we dream” – Demetrius
Creation Theatre invites you to step into a dream—to wander into a world where lovers get lost, fairies meddle, and nothing is quite as it seems. In true English summer fête style, expect bunting, blossoms, and just a hint of fairy dust, as Shakespeare’s most playful comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, comes to life on the picturesque lawn of the Wolfson College cricket ground in Oxford this summer.
Audiences are invited to settle beneath the soft canvas of the festival-like open-air tent and let mischief, magic, and moonlight transport them. Bring a picnic, grab a Pimm’s, and prepare for a beautiful evening of laughter, wonder, and theatrical magic.
Creation Theatre CEO and artistic director Helen Eastman, who is directing the show, says: “It doesn’t feel like summer until Creation’s open-air Shakespeare begins. We’re very lucky to be performing on the beautiful cricket pitch at Wolfson College — the perfect setting for a glorious evening of theatre, brought to life by our wonderfully talented company.”
A joyful night out. A hidden gem of a location. A midsummer evening you won’t forget.
