New arts venue in rural Ashford Hill

THERE'S a newly-formed music and arts centre at The Ship Inn Country Hotel, Ashford Hill.

A not-for-profit arm of the country hotel, situated in beautiful countryside, The Ship Inn Arts Centre offers a venue for concerts and events, for intimate audiences of 40 only, with good parking and disabled access.

They hope to encourage many performers and artists to use the space, either for their own concerts or join one of the pre-arranged concerts as a soloist.

The venue has recently become the Newbury centre for the London College of Music Examinations and will have exams there in the summer session in July, so they are asking people to get in touch if they are thinking of taking an exam with the LCM https://lcme.uwl.ac.uk/information/exam-centres-uk-ireland

At the first spring concert on March 19, “a special evening, with some wonderful performances”, the audience raised £200 for the Ukraine, which they expect to be doubled and gift aid added.

The Ship Inn offers good rehearsal and meeting space too and hopes to offer session/workshops for wellbeing in the future. Visit the newly-formed website, which is still forming. All the concerts/events are on there for the year and are gradually being added to.

The next concert, on Saturday, May 14 (7pm), is An Evening With Sfsax, with a sprinkling of soloists.
