New release and pro-video for Newbury's teen social media sensation
NEWBURY teen singer songwriter Olivia McBeth – Liv – recently released Any Other Way, a slow, lyrical ballad with a piano accompaniment and at Easter made a professional music video her new song.
Shot in London, Liv said it was “super fun”.
The director was Anton Califano and a number of locations were used such as a studio, a pretty garden and church ruins.
“We even had a drone operator to take some shots from really cool perspectives and angles.”
Filmmaker and videographer Anton Califano is based in south east London and has been making independent documentary and fiction films for over 15 years. As a cameraman and editor he has broadcast television credits with BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky Arts
The video will be coming out very soon and Liv can’t wait to see the final result.
Liv, who can boast tens of thousands of streams and a phenomenal number of followers on social media, wrote both the words and piano parts for Any Other Way.
She told N2: “I wrote Any Other Way at the end of 2021 and finally recorded it at Studio 91 in Newbury a few months later.
“The song is based on the complications of a friendship/relationship, with the main story being about loving someone, but knowing they are bad for you, or something being too good to be true.
“I wanted to write a song that was not some sort of breakup song, like my other four.”
Any Other Way was played on BBC Radio Berkshire before it was released.
“Something I do with each of my songs is upload them on to the website of BBC Introducing, a platform for aspiring artists, and each time I have been lucky enough to have the song played on the radio.
“It has definitely been a massive help to me as it has boosted my songs and helped them reach a new audience of listeners.”
Now Covid restrictions are lifted, Liv is excited to get back into the full swing of gigs and shows.
“In December I played at the turning on of the Christmas lights event in Newbury Market Place. It was an amazing experience and the biggest audience I have ever played to.
“I sang a number of songs including Valerie by Amy Winehouse and Proud Mary by Tina Turner. The audience was great and I cannot wait to do something similar again.”
At Easter she was invited to go on the podcast It’s Good To Talk by Harrison Gunn, to talk about all things music, social media and her life in general.
Finally Liv, a boarder at Lord Wandsworth in Hook, recently starred in her school’s musical We Will Rock You, playing the part of Galileo.
“The show is filled with the band Queen’s greatest hits and has a really fun storyline.
“We did five shows in total and I had the best time.
“It definitely showed me that performing is something I want to do in the future.”
