Newbury's 14-year-old songwriting social media sensation lives life to the max
What have you done this past year? Olivia McBeth has written a number of new songs, performed in London, gained up to 60k followers, met some amazing people. And lots more… Oh and she's still only 14.
Since we last spoke to Newbury singer songwriter Olivia McBeth – Liv – in 2020, she has gained around 35,000 followers, so she now has a grand total of 60,000 with all platforms combined.
She’s still at Lord Wandsworth school in Hook, flexi-boarding during the week.
In May she released a new song Familiar Times with Voice Kids semi-finalist Blair Gilmour, a slow piano ballad song that they wrote over FaceTime in lockdown. Blair and Liv met on Instagram. “It’s crazy to think we have now released a song together. Familiar Times is now my most successful song with around 15,000 streams,” she says.
Then, later in May, Liv made her debut on BBC Radio Berkshire. “They contacted me saying they were going to play my songs Best Of Luck and Losing Me, which I was super excited about. They also asked to interview me, which I did from my dormitory at school.
“Now whenever I have a new song I aim to get it played by them as it really boosts me as an artist.
On August 25, she was lucky enough to perform at Harrison Gunn’s It’s Good To Talk live show at Portobello Road, Notting Hill. “This was my first proper live show and for it to be in London was amazing. I performed alongside people such as Ami Charlize (1.7 million on TikTok), Issey Moloney (5.4 million on TikTok), Sassi Simonds (teen mom) and Niki Lily (YouTuber and winner of Junior Bake Off).
“The audience was filled with amazing people with major amounts of followers so it was very surreal to be singing to them. I got to perform covers and my original songs.”
This summer has also been a great time for Liv and her group of friends The UK Youngers – seven influencers with around four million followers altogether. Four of us went to Thorpe Park, which was amazing fun and great to meet some followers.
“Then Grace Conder hosted a summer party.”
Grace is the YouTube star who appears on her family’s YouTube channel Dad V Girls.
“It was super good and brilliant to see each other and create some content together for our followers.”
Liv currently has many songs in the works.
“I am always writing music. I have a lovely piano song which should be released soon. I would say this is definitely one of my best. I’m super excited to share it.
“I can’t wait to do more live gigs and reach new audiences.”
