Newbury performing arts students light up West End stage this weekend

Students from Stagecoach Performing Arts Newbury are among 16 Stagecoach Performing Arts schools from across the country to take part in an autumn showcase performance at London's Shaftesbury Theatre on Sunday.

The iconic West End venue has been home to three other successful performances by Stagecoach students earlier this year, after many students missed out on performing live in 2020. The showcase provides the students with a chance to come together for a fantastic showcase, building on their creativity, courage and skills that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

Stagecoach Newbury are alongside various Stagecoach Performing Arts schools from across the country that have travelled many miles to London to perform over the weekend. As part of the show, Newbury's students will perform a variety of songs, including a medley from the Disney classic Mulan.

On the night, guests will also get to enjoy a wealth of performances by students from all over the country, including Cambridge, Sheffield, Worthing, Kidderminster, Cardiff, Medway, Havant, Huntington, Newmarket, Northampton, Garforth, Wilmslow, Lichfield, and Southwell.

Stagecoach Newbury principal Jenny Unthank said: "We absolutely love performing at the West End, it is the highlight of our year. For the students it is a once in a lifetime experience to perform live on stage and we are so lucky to have this opportunity. We have been working really hard and we can't wait to perform our Mulan Medley."

Stagecoach Performing Arts was founded in 1988 and continues to grow as the UK’s largest network of extra-curricular performing arts schools for children, with 55,000 students enrolled in our weekly classes worldwide.
