Historical RAF Greenham Common runway lights discovered at back of warehouse to go under the hammer
The original lights from the RAF Greenham Common runway are going under the hammer at SAS auctioneers in Newbury on Wednesday, July 31 and are expected to fetch £750.
The lights were salvaged when the runway was demolished in 1995 and were recently found at the back of a warehouse.
The four lots, comprising 14 lights in total are being sold by Greenham Trust.
Militaria expert at Special Auction Services Adam Inglut said: “These lights are unique and a real part of local history.
“I anticipate interest from people in the area as well as those interested in military history – or even those who want to use them to light their home, shed or garden!”
SAS auction rooms are located at Plenty Close, Newbury. Telephone +44 (0) 1635 580 595.
