Newbury's Friday night goes live 'n' local

Since 2014 ACE Space, in St Nicolas Road, have been putting on a monthly gig with nationally and internationally touring musicians, writes Stephen Ottner.

Tomorrow (Friday), the focus is on local bands from Newbury and Reading, celebrating the range and diversity of local talent – a musical odyssey from jazz and Americana infused folk to alt-indie rock to hard rock.

Tomorrow Bird are an award-winning duo who blend backgrounds in musical theatre, folk-rock and classical piano. They draw musical influences from folk, country and Americana bands.

Who Ate All The Crayons describe themselves as “no strangers to earworm hooks and infectious melodies wringing with emotion, perfecting the balance of not taking life too seriously but serious enough that their tunes lay heavy in your minds”.

Circus of Heathens simply describe themselves as “a modern hard rock band”.

They have been building a local following at pub gigs across Newbury, Reading and Basingstoke.
