Remembrance weekend: Basingstoke museum holds tribute concert to Forces Sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn

This Remembrance Weekend, Friday and Saturday, November 12 and 13, step back in time at Milestones Museum in Basingstoke for a timeless tribute concert to Britain’s wartime Forces’ Sweetheart, Dame Vera Lynn CH DBE OStJ.
The tribute concert to Dame Vera Lynn will include sounds from the big band era from The Apollo Big Band and 1940s, wartime and swing music from The Swingtime Sweethearts.
Guests will also be able to enjoy the concert in the company of Winstan, acclaimed lookalike and soundalike of arguably the country’s most famous Prime Minister and statesman, Winston Churchill.
Guiding the audience through this tribute concert to the woman who inspired millions through the darkest days of the Second World War, will be variety entertainer Mickie Driver, while 1940s re-enactors will be creating an authentic atmosphere in the museum’s cobbled streets
The concert will run across two evenings, doors will open at 6.30pm, with the show starting at 7pm and concluding at 10.10pm, including an interval of 30 minutes.
Milestones Museum’s very own 1940s working pub, the Baverstock Arms, will be open for pre-concert and interval drinks. Free parking is available outside Milestones Museum and on Basingstoke Leisure Park.
Tickets are priced at £20 per person.
