Remembrance weekend: Spitfire and WW2 tank in Newbury town centre, guided tour of Newtown Road cemetery and Remembrance Day services across West Berkshire and North Hampshire




A round-up of events taking place over the weekend.

Saturday 13

Spitfire & Second World War tank coming to Parkway, Newbury, 10.30am-5pm. Organised by Berkshire and The Vale, Poppy Appeal with Parkway Shopping.

In Remembrance, Wantage Band, Wantage Parish Church, 7.30pm. Join Wantage Band and their Musical Director Paul Holland as they pay tribute to all those people who gave their today for our tomorrow. The concert will feature music to reflect, some of the bands soloists and old favourites perfect for 'foot tapping'. All ticket proceeds will be donated to the Royal British Legion who celebrate their centenary this year. Tickets are £10 adult, £8 senior/student and £20 for a family of four. Remembrance at the Cemetery, Friends of Newtown Road Cemetery, Newbury, 10am-6pm. Guided tour of Commonwealth War Graves, 11am, free tour at the chapel, 3pm, as the sun sets on Newtown Road, Andrew J Smith will bring Major Edward Pellew Plenty to life again, 4.30pm. Spring bulb planting, Blossoms Field, Wash Common, 10am-2pm. In support of the Puple4Polio intitiative created by the Rotary Club of Great Britain.

Bradfield Village Hall Christmas Market, 10am to noon. Lots of stalls selling items to give as Christmas presents – homemade crafts and decorations and comestibles. Free entry and free parking. Refreshments will be available throughout including homemade mince pies.

Sunday 14

Aldermaston Pay & Playday, 4x4 Without a Club, Harbour Hill, 9am-4pm. Drive round day, three routes. £30 for driver, £5 for extra driver over 17 years. No need to book, just arrive at site. www.4x4-withoutaclub.co.uk For information call 07990 667503.
