Dead Jackals return for Newbury pub gig in aid of Soup Kitchen

Local rockers Dead Jackals play again in Newbury, at the Lion in West Street, on January 27 (7pm). They will be raising money for Newbury Soup Kitchen.

Guitarist Matt Hudson said: "We are looking forward to playing The Lion in Newbury again as last time it was packed out and a great night.

"This time we are doing a three-show run in Newbury, Basingstoke and Andover and we are raising money for local charities in each town.

"We have chosen Newbury Soup Kitchen to raise money for as this time of year the weather is bad and people are in need even more so.

"On January 27, come down to The Lion enjoy free live music from Dead Jackals, No Good sons and Circus of Heathens and lets raise some money for those that need it."

Formed in late 2019 by TommyK (vocals/bass), Dead Jackals are a passion project, pulling influence from bands such as Thin Lizzy and Blink 182, a combination that on paper sounds like the weirdest crossover ever, but "once heard shows that rock is very much alive and well".

TommyK had been at college with drummer Jolly and knew that his drumming would be perfect. Sugarman Sam (guitar) from Sugarman Sam and The Voodoo Men, a fantastic blues guitarist from Basingstoke was next to get the call. Guitarist Matt Hudson was the final piece of the puzzle from Newbury, with his "lightning fast solos and phenomenal licks" and so the band was complete.

"With catchy vocals, epic riffs, powerful bass and hard hitting drums, Dead Jackals are here to show the world that rock is very much alive."
