Pangbourne Choral concert will support specialist SEN school at 'a difficult time for funding’

It's ‘business as usual’ for Pangbourne Choral Society, with the return of its annual Christmas Concert of Seasonal Readings and Music at the Falkland Islands Memorial Chapel, Pangbourne College on Saturday (7pm).

This year, PCS is giving musical support for Brookfields Specialist SEN School in Tilehurst (www.brookfieldsschool.org), which provides valuable support to children with learning difficulties.

While this event is ticketless, the audience is invited to make charitable donations on the door to Brookfields staff and pupils.

The concert contains a miscellany of Christmas carols and anthems for all, plus some special pieces by the choir. The readings are designed to get one into the Christmas spirit and to give a sense of what makes this season special.

PCS chairman Brian Hoskins, said: "PCS has always sought to offer a Christmas concert which, while containing many familiar items, is also more informal, less ritualistic. And we are delighted to be supporting Brookfields Specialist SEN School at a difficult time for funding.’

The programme will be led by PCS music director Chris McDade, with David Pether as the organist.

There are no tickets to purchase, so it is just a question of as many people as possible turning up on the night to make this an enjoyable occasion.

The PCS Spring Concert will be on Saturday, March 11, 2023 and will include Mozart’s Requiem.
