Savills becomes Newbury Watermill theatre’s first e-ticket sponsor

The Watermill theatre has partnered with real estate services provider Savills, as its first ever e-ticket sponsor.

The distribution of e-tickets from the Watermill – one of the very best producing theatres in the country - has rapidly accelerated in recent years. The move to e-tickets has been driven forward by the theatre’s ambition to drastically reduce paper usage and improve environmental sustainability, while also providing a contactless ticketing option for audience members during the pandemic. Last year, e-tickets accounted for the majority of all tickets issued by the Bagnor theatre.

Savills is a leading property agent that advocates responsible and sustainable real estate. Focused on delivering a more sustainable future, Savills works alongside clients, suppliers and its local community to identify ways in which to reduce environmental impact.

Watermill development director Jo Bycroft said: “It is a great pleasure to welcome Savills UK to The Watermill theatre as exclusive e-ticket sponsor. This-newly created partnership brings together two highly recognisable brands, reinforcing our joint values and aims with environmental sustainability taking centre stage."

With both Savills and The Watermill striving to promote eco-friendly choices, e-ticket sponsorship seemed a natural fit.

Savills will be promoted to thousands of audience members across the region on e-tickets for all shows over a 12-month period. With such a mix of great shows to enjoy this year from Our Man in Havana, Bleak Expectations, Whistle Down The Wind, Othello and Rapunzel, e-ticket sponsorship will put Savills centre stage.

"Savills UK will receive prominent branding on e-tickets for our shows for a period of one year," added Ms Bycroft. "We very much look forward to working with them."

Head of Residential and Director of Savills Newbury branch Liz McLean said: “The Watermill Theatre is an iconic landmark in Berkshire that has a long-standing history in the community and we are so thrilled to be partnering with them on such an exciting and sustainable initiative.

"As a business Savills is committed to achieving net zero carbon in its operation by 2030 and we want to support the theatre’s own environmental ambitions by sponsoring their e-tickets.”
