Up and Coming ceramicists win prizes at City Arts Newbury show

Those who visited September Ceramics at City Arts Newbury recently will have seen what a talented selection of local makers there are. It was also great to see selected pieces by ‘Up and Coming’ makers displayed alongside the work of the more established ceramicists.

On Sunday, as the exhibition came to a close, there was an award ceremony with prizes in a number of categories, plus the People’s Favourites - voted for by visitors to the show - and the Exhibitor’s Favourite - voted for by the exhibiting artists.

The judges this year were Great Pottery Throwdown contestant and artist in residence at The Base, Greenham Cait Gould, and John Brazendale, who was head of art at St Bart’s School for many years and is chairman of Open Studios West Berks North Hants.
