Paul is renowned for his magical sound and exceptional skill. His great sensitivity, high energy and his own skill as a composer make him a superb proponent of Miles Davis’ music. Davis, the most revered jazz trumpeter of all time, was at the forefront of several major innovations in jazz from the mid ’40s to the early ’90s – bebop, cool, hard bop, modal, jazz funk and jazz fusion. Paul plays well-known favourites from these styles as well as some less familiar gems.

A highly accomplished and respected trumpet player with an impressive career in many fields including performing, composing and arranging music for film, TV and theatre, Paul was a musical director for many years for the National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company.

He has established himself as a versatile musician, equally at home playing jazz, classical, or contemporary music.

His exceptional talent has seen him perform in major venues around the world, including the Royal Albert Hall, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, and the Berlin Concert Hall. He has performed with luminaries including Sir Peter Maxwell Davis, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Johnny Dankworth, Lulu, Tony Hatch, John Williams, Nancy Wilson and Shorty Rodgers.

Paul is also greatly sought-after as a solo performer and has released a number of critically acclaimed albums. He is known for his unique and expressive style of playing, which seamlessly blends virtuosic playing with emotion and soul.

Wherever he is performing, his music is always captivating, leaving audiences spellbound.

Paul Higgs is a true master of his craft.
