“A guy with his feet, soul and spirit firmly rooted in the US southern blues music tradition” (Blues Magazine NL), the three-time British Blues Awards nominee has made seven albums with 2016s Dress For The Money reaching number 1 on the UK IBBA Blues Charts and achieved support from the likes of Paul Jones on BBC Radio 2, Blues Magazine in The Netherlands
and from the Washington State Blues Society.
Currently, his band is Phil Dearing (rhythm guitar – he also produces MacDonald’s studio recordings), Elliot Boughen (bass) and Mark Johnson-Brown (drums).
N2 reviewed his gig last year: “His musical philosophy is that the blues don’t always need to be sad, and his witty, genre defying lyrics prove his point (particularly a track written in lockdown about falling for a barista at Starbucks).
“His gentle humour and connection with the audience combined with his excellent guitar skills and fine vocals made for an entertaining and well received opening set.
“Like so many artists he was clearly very happy to be back performing.”
Catch him at Arlington Arts on Friday, March 3.
