The show goes on - 'a small miracle' at Newbury's Watermill theatre
The show must go on – and at The Watermill theatre the cast and creative teams behind Whistle Down The Wind, performed a small miracle of their own last week.
When Lydia White who plays Swallow and Robert Tripolino, who plays The Man, fell ill, Emma Jane Morton, already part of the cast’s ensemble, stepped in to play the role of Swallow and Adam Filipe stepped into the role of The Man.
Both have wowed audiences, with many commenting they couldn’t believe they had been rehearsing the roles for less than 24 hours.
The theatre's artistic director Paul Hart and executive director Claire Murray said: "A massive thank you goes out to the whole team who pulled together to make this week’s shows happen.
"We are all in awe of how quickly Adam and Emma have been able to step into these lead roles in 24 hours and how the rest of the cast, creative team and stage management team have adapted and supported one another to continue making magical theatre."
The Watermill’s ‘outstanding production’ of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s thrilling musical, directed by Tom Jackson Greaves, runs to September 10.
