Goring & Streatley having a laugh with top acts at Gap Comedy club

Gap Comedy was set up by a group of local volunteers to bring top comedy acts to Goring and Streatley.

Any surplus made is channelled into improving lighting and other equipment and attracting the best performers from the comedy circuit they can afford.

They use two venues in the Goring Gap, The Morrell Room in Streatley and Goring Village Hall, where an intimate club atmosphere is created, enhanced with a carefully designed set, lighting and sound.

On Saturday, October 29 (7.15pm-10.30pm), fresh on the heels of his critically acclaimed memoirs Nailing It, Montana’s transatlantic messenger Rich Hall returns with Shot from Cannons – new rants, knife-edge observations, thrilling musical interludes and an ever-formidable knack for laughs on the fly.

At Goring Hall, full bar service with beers from Renegade Brewery. Doors open 7.15pm.

Chris McCausland is touring to more than 100 venues with his Speaky Blinders – including Gap Comedy, on Thursday, December 15 – a show about life and family, with loads of other nonsense thrown in for good measure.

Does life ever become overwhelming? Do you bemoan the stresses and strains of parenthood, a busy career, the rat race or everyday existence? Well, imagine having all that, but being blind too. Chris McCausland is that man.

Luckily Chris has also been gifted with a superb sense of humour and an unbeatable wit, allowing him not only to see the funny side in the life he leads, with all its difficulties, but also allows him to express this comedy on the stage.

Following his debut appearance on Live at the Apollo in 2018, Chris is in great demand and has become a regular face on TV, with multiple hit appearances across such flagship comedy programmes as Have I Got News for You, Would I Lie to You?, QI, The Last Leg and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

He has appeared on Live at the Apollo three times, his latest appearance was hosting the renowned stand-up show.

Chris’ appearance on the Royal Variety Performance had the esteemed guests rolling in the aisles. He has also recently made appearances on celebrity editions of favourites such as Mastermind, The Chase, Antiques Road Trip and Blankety Blank. In fact, he says he has so many shows out you’ll probably all be sick of him by the time he gets to Goring.
