Newbury school’s boys dance group to represent SE at U Dance 2024 National Festival in Liverpool
Trinity School's senior boys dance company, Nuclear, have been selected following a regional performance to represent the Southeast at the U Dance 2024 National Festival in Liverpool in July. This is an extremely prestigious event, where they will have all day workshops and perform alongside the most talented youth dance groups in the country.
Head of dance Amy Gale said: “I am incredible proud of their achievement. They are energetic, excitable and super talented and they absolutely deserve this.”
Each year the dance company enter the national dance competition U Dance and are often selected to attend the regional platform, this year this was in Brighton at the Old Market Theatre.
Following this performance, a group is selected to attend the U Dance National Festival in Liverpool, and this year Nuclear beat some incredible talent to be selected to attend. The event is over a weekend, where the boys take part in workshops at Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and perform alongside the best youth dance companies in the country at Liverpool Playhouse Theatre.
Nuclear will be performing their piece called Recollections, also performed in Brighton, which explores memories, both good and bad, and how we might react if those memories were placed in front of us. The audience in Brighton commented on how moving the piece was, and the outstanding athleticism of the dancers.
Trinity school are currently fundraising to support the boys in their travel and accommodation costs, through a performance at Trinity School next Thursday, May 16 at 6pm entitled BoysDanceToo.
