TV star Alexander Armstrong a bit hit at Hungerford book-signing
A QUEUE of eager readers waited patiently outside Hungerford Bookshop to meet the broadcaster, actor and comedian Alexander Armstrong on Friday.
The Pointless host was signing copies of his debut fantasy adventure for children aged nine to 13 , Evenfall: The Golden Linnet.
The book appeals to fans of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials, Percy Jackson and Skandar, and is the first in a planned series.
Alexander, or Xander as he likes to be known, explained to children and parents how he was inspired to write the story after seeking out books for his four sons.
Co-owner of the bookshop Emma Milne-White said: “It was lovely to meet him, he was very generous with his time, and there were lots of laughs.
“We were particularly touched when we heard him talking about why he loved independent bookshops so much.”
Evenfall: The Golden Linnet is published by Farshore and is out now.
