ALDBOURNE, historical re-enactments and vintage vehicles all bank holiday weekend on Palmer's Field, noon St Michael’s School WWII exhibition at War Memorial Hall; 2pm public village tour with the Heritage Centre; 2pm historic military convoy from Aldbourne and Littlecote House; 3pm screening of VE Day film A Royal Night Out at St Michael's Church; 7pm celebration dance in War Memorial Hall. Tickets cost £25 and are available from The Crown pub and the post office.

WORLD Labyrinth Day celebration, crafts & tea, East Garston Quaker Meeting House, 12.30pm-3pm.

JUMBLE Sale, Padworth Village Hall, 2pm, in aid of Padworth Village Hall.

SUNDAY

CHORAL Evensong at St Mary’s Church Speen, 6pm. Beautiful music followed by refreshments, everyone very welcome.

ALDBOURNE: 11am service at St Michael’s Church; 1pm blue plaque unveiling at the post office; 2pm public village tour with the Heritage Centre; 4pm commemorative tree planting and concert; 6pm VE Day concert performed by Aldbourne Band on The Green. Spitfire plypast at noon.

WOOLTON Hill service in St Thomas’ Church, 4pm, followed by refreshments. The church and lych gate will be decorated with flags and bunting.

MONDAY

BEST of British Market 80 VE DAY, the Broadway, Thatcham, 10am-3pm, British Street Food British Cheese and Honey Crafts and Jewellery Community Picnic Ice Cream Fire Engine Bubble Blowing Land Girl Kennet Radio Women’s Institute Royal British Legion Join in the fun by wearing your best 1940s clothes – vintage suits and dresses, landgirls and uniforms!

A FLYPAST of aircraft is planned over Buckingham Palace on Monday, May 5, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day. Aircraft are expected to appear over the northern and easternmost areas of West Berkshire between 1.45pm and 2.25pm, flying at 2,500ft.

STOCKCROSS Vintage vehicles and live performances Sutton Hall (Stockcross Village Hall) from 1pm. Take your own food cutlery and paper plates. Refreshments available. Tickets £2. Visit www.jumblebee.co.uk/stockcross VE Day historical dress optional.

WEDNESDAY

NEW Era Players are helping to celebrate VE Day 80 with West Berkshire Museum today and tomorrow. They will be doing two shows, the first at 1pm and the other at 7pm. Each performance will be different, showcasing songs, stories, poems and anecdotes about this historic day.
