What’s on in West Berkshire this week




THURSDAY

COFFEE morning, St Nicolas Church Hall, West Mills, Newbury, 10am-noon. Somewhere central to meet your friends for a coffee, a homemade cake and a chat. As well as the usual bric-a-brac and tombola, plants for sale. Flower and vegetable plants ready to sow in your garden or windowbox. All profits go to the therapy garden at West Berkshire Community Hospital.

FRIDAY

ROYAL British Legion, Pelican Lane, Newbury, dance, Midnight Riders, 8.30pm-11pm, all welcome.

SATURDAY

PANGBOURNE Classic Car Show, in the grounds of Pangbourne College, 10am-4pm. A spectacular array of vintage, classic and rare cars, the event is open to the whole community to enjoy. Fly past from The Battle of Britain Dakota at 3.30pm. Get up close to the beautiful classic cars, scooters and motorbikes on display. Food and drink will be available to purchase on site and visitors are welcome to take their own picnic. CHANTEL McGregor and her band, Croft Hall, Hungerford, 7.30pm. Many say that Chantel McGregor is the best female lead guitarist in the country and what’s more she has a stunning voice. Ranging from traditional blues numbers to a much more raunchy blues rock style, her music has some of the most exciting lead breaks you could wish for.

SUNDAY

VICTORIA Park Family Day, from noon-4pm. Includes Punch & Judy shows, climbing wall, free tennis sessions and more. Free, family-friendly fun for all.

ROYAL British Legion, Pelican Lane, Newbury, disco, DJs Richard and Graham, 3pm-7pm. Entry £3, all welcome .

CHORAL Evensong, St Mary’s Church Speen RG14 1SA, 6pm. Beautiful music followed by refreshments, everyone very welcome.

TUESDAY

BERKSHIRE Chamber Music Festival 2025 opens with Classic FM Rising Star, Aaron Akugbo at Shaw House, 7pm. Adults £15 (plus booking fee) Under 16s free.

Enjoy a tea/coffee and a treat or a full two-course lunch at the sociable community café and restaurant: Café is open Monday- Friday, 9.30am-11.30am and 1.30pm-3.30pm, restaurant open Monday-Friday noon-1.30pm and one Saturday and two Sundays a month.

Cash Bingo: Four games of competitive cash bingo. Every Friday, 1.30pm-2.30pm, £2.

Chair exercises: Chair-based exercises with music focusing on legs and arms, to improve balance and co-ordination. Every Tuesday, 11.15am-11.45am, £1.50 members, £2.50 non-members.

Friendly craft group. Every Wednesday, 10.30am-11.30am, £4 members, £5 non-members.
