DAILY until Sunday: Aldworth St Mary’s Church Art Group exhibition, 10am and 5pm. The group of amateur artists live in the village or the surrounding area. Morning open sketching sessions (paper and charcoal provided) from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Plant stall and tea, coffee and cake.

SATURDAY

COMPTON Challenge Marathon & 16-mile Trial Races, Compton Recreation Ground. Start 9am. 1500 feet of ascent/descent, seven checkpoints with snacks. Option to swap distance at nine-mile point. Unique finisher’s mug from White Horse Pottery. Barbecue for runners (also for supporters with donation. Fees: £32.50/34.50 before May 16 or £38/40 on the day. Entry for 18+. www.sportsystems.co.uk

PADDLE Out Protest – Victoria Park, Newbury. Eco Friends West Berkshire hosting the first-ever Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) protest in West Berkshire, as part of a nationwide day of action to end sewage pollution in our rivers and seas. We’re making history – and we want you to be part of it! Set-up from 10am, protest begins at 11am, next to the boating pond. This is a peaceful, family-friendly demonstration. Disperse by 1pm. Bring homemade banners and yourself.

EAST Woodhay Flower Show, Annual Plant & Jumble Sale, East Woodhay Village Hall, 2pm. Clothing, books, bric-a-brac. Raising funds for the village hall. Entrance 50p.

MONDAY

NEWBURY and District Transport Group meeting at Kennet School, Thatcham 7pm to 9pm. Stephen Bigley will give an illustrated presentation entitled Railways in Hampshire during the last 25 years. Refreshments and raffle. Free entrance anyone welcome.

WASH Common Library, Knit and Natter, 3pm to 4.30pm. You can bring along your own knitting, or join in creating items for Knit for Peace.
