Thatcham Town Council hosts a Big Green Market in the Broadway to mark Big Green Week 2025, celebrating community action on climate, nature, and sustainable living. A wide range of eco-conscious traders, local producers, and green organisations alongside Thatcham’s regular Friday market stalls. Please take your reusable bags to take your goods home with you.

SATURDAY
West Berks Indoor Bowls Club Spring Fayre, Pyle Hill, Newbury, 10am-1pm. Large selection of stalls to browse. Large free car park.
FREE blood pressure check at Newbury Town Hall, 10am to noon to help reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke. Newbury Rotary will also be serving tea, coffee and cakes in the Council Chamber.
InCantata will be entertaining visitors in Newbury Town Hall from 10.30am to 11.30am. the women’s choir sing a varied mix of their current repertoire, at the same time enjoying a a welcome cuppa and a delicious piece of cake. www.incantata.co.uk, and Facebook.
Jumble sale, Padworth village hall, 2pm, in aid of St John the Baptist Church.
Inkpen Summer Fete, recreation ground, 1.30pm. Sharky and George Games, dog show, mobile bar, tug of war, food stalls, disco and much more. Disco 6pm-10pm. Proceeds to Inkpen Primary School.
Three Rivers Community Choir Summer Concert, Kennet School, Thatcham, 7.30-9.30pm. Extravaganza of beautiful pieces, supported by students from Kennet School. £5 per ticket, under 16s free.

Kennet Opera Sing into Summer with an early evening (6pm) show, in the Great Hall at Shaw House. Repertoire ranges from Gilbert and Sullivan, through Mozart and Purcell, to Verdi and Rossini and as far as Benjamin Britten.

Hungerford Food & Artisan Market, 10am-1pm, Croft Field RG17 0HY. Local food and artisan stalls, live music, street food, plants, cooking demos. Free entry.
MONDAY
Wash Common Library, The Poetry Club, 3pm. Theme this month is Endings, it could be the end of a journey, a relationship, life or anything else.
WEDNESDAY
Berkshire Family History Society Newbury branch, face to face meeting and talk by Eric Saxton ‘If these walls could talk’, 2pm to 4pm, West Berks Museum. Eric shows how the process of researching a building’s history connects it to the temperance society, a police inspector involved in the Jack the Ripper case and more. During the talk the building’s location will be revealed. Entry free to members. Non-members are asked to donate £5 towards costs. For more details go to berksfhs.org
