FRIDAY

SATURDAY

International Yoga Day, by the Victoria Park bandstand, come and join in starting sharp at 9am to 10am, free. Bring your own accessories – yoga mat, water bottle etc.

The Newtown Road Cemetery Group is celebrating the longest day. Range of activities at the cemetery includes tours telling its history and people buried there, and in the evening a talk and walk on its bats by specialist Linda Clark, and a collection of the cemetery moths (usually over 50 varieties) humanely caught and identified by an expert the evening before, will be released at dusk. Wildflower Detective challenge (10.30am to 6pm), open to all children aged between five and 12 who must be accompanied by an adult.

Grand Opening Celebration, Mio Fiori Cafe, Inches Yard, Newbury, at 8am. ‘To celebrate, we are giving away free Aragostine pastry with your drink order for the first 100 customers.’

Newbury Chamber Choir concert at St George’s Church, Wash Common, 6pm. Musical director Ben de Souza has chosen a selection of traditional folk songs of the British Isles, with the centrepiece being John Rutter’s The Sprig of Thyme. Ben will be playing some folk sets on his accordion and will be joined by his mother Brenda de Souza on violin. Short early evening summer concert with included refreshments after the concert. Tickets £15, (includes refreshments after the concert), under-18s free, from www.newburychamberchoir. org or on the door.

SUNDAY

Chieveley Village Fete, Recreation Ground, 2pm-5pm. Live music, bar and BBQ, cream teas and ice creams, dog show (weather dependent), crêpes and churros, tombola, bookstall, raffle, coconut shy, stocks, welly wanging, vintage and performance vehicles, bouncy castles, swing boats, football, cricket, bowls, and much more.

WEDNESDAY

Live Jazz at Gourmet Pasta Co, 7pm-9pm. Enjoy an evening of live jazz and Berkshire’s best fresh pasta in the heart of Newbury Market Place. Vocalist Aret Komlosy and guitarist Hugh Turner will be performing their distinctive Latin jazz style live at Hugo’s Gourmet Pasta. Aret is based in Oxford and has previously performed at the Royal Albert Hall and London Jazz Festival. No ticket or entry cost, just book a table via gourmetpasta.co.uk

FAIR CLOSE CENTRE

THERE are a number of events taking place at Fair Close Centre this coming week.

Everyone is welcome to go along to any of the activities taking place each week.
