What's on in West Berkshire and North Hampshire: Highclere fete, Newbury family fun day and Hungerford Harey 8
Here is a round up of events across the district this weekend.
Friday 10
Talk on Artificial Intelligence, Wickham Church, 6.30pm. Learn about vapour trails and how algorithms are being used in major decision-making from AI expert John Handby. Refreshments. Fundraiser for Wickham Church. Tickets £15 from fowc22@gmail.com
Saturday 11
Jubilee Garden Party, Thatcham Library, 10am-12noon. Activities for children – make crowns and Lego castles – as well as a treasure hunt for all and a prize draw.
Highclere fete, Church grounds and gardens of the Old School House, noon-5pm. Stalls, competitions, dog show, silent auction, games and a baking competition with adult and children’s categories. Plenty of parking available.
And Sunday 12, Open Garden, Povey’s Cottage, Stoney Heath, Baughurst, Tadley, 1pm-5pm. Herbaceous borders, trees and shrubs, a small orchard and a small wildflower meadow area. Beehives and chickens and an unusual natural swimming pond. Book in advance https://ngs.org.uk/ or turn up on the day.
Sunday 12
Family Fun Day, Victoria Park, noon to 4pm. Entertainment for all ages including traditional Punch & Judy shows, dancing and singing on the Bandstand with the Ragtime Theatre School, folk band Whoosya and Watership Brass. A climbing wall for everyone to try and a fire engine and police car to explore.
Hungerford Harey 8, Hungerford Rugby Club, 10am. Multi-terrain eight-mile race around Hungerford and surrounding countryside. Registration starts from 9am at the rugby club. Registration is in advance but there may be some entries available on the day. Please check FB for latest.
Monday 13
