Dog of the Week: The latest dogs looking for their forever homes from Newbury Dogs Trust
Welcome to this week’s Dog of the Week.
Dogs Trust Newbury still has a number of dogs at its Hamstead Marshall base who need a new home.
And so every Sunday we will continue to shine a spotlight on one of them to try to help spread the word.
Nationwide, the charity currently has 826 dogs that are looking for a family to join.
You can find out more about adopting a dog by visiting the charity’s website.
Today we have "delightful and loving" Amber to introduce you to.
The one-year-old lurcher has clearly stolen the hearts of everyone at the Newbury centre.
They said: "Amber is a delightful and loving one-year-old Lurcher who truly adores people.
"With a heart full of affection, she thrives on meeting new friends and cherishes every moment spent in the company of her favourite humans.
"However, her love for companionship does mean that she will need company most of the time, especially whilst she is settling in.
"With her sweet and gentle nature, she is sure to bring joy to your life and would make the perfect companion for a family with sensible children of primary school age."
But while Amber is described as a sweetheart, she does have a bit of a wild side with her prey drive, so she will need to live in a home without cats or small furry friends and will need to stay on the lead when she’s out in public
Amber is housetrained, but she may have a few accidental moments if she’s left to her own devices for too long, and she is not yet accustomed to car rides.
"This gorgeous girl is searching for a quiet home where she can bask in the warmth of company and cuddles," the trust added.
"Ultimately, what Amber desires most is a cosy spot next to someone she adores on the sofa — after all, who wouldn’t want a snuggle buddy like her?
"If your heart is open to providing a cosy, nurturing environment, perhaps your home could be the perfect match for Amber. Are you the special someone she’s been waiting for?"
