Wonderful woodwind in Hungerford

Clarinettist Anthony Bailey and pianist Daniel King Smith are bringing a stunning programme of classics as well as the premiere of one of Anthony’s own compositions to the Croft Hall on Saturday, March 26, as part of the ongoing Arts for Hungerford programme.

Anthony has played and recorded with the London Mozart Players, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the English Chamber Orchestra. As a member of the Chinook Clarinet Quartet he has performed in prestigious venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room and Bridgewater Hall as well as performing live on BBC TV and radio.

Pianist Daniel was last in Hungerford in 2021 with cellist Robert Cohen. His extensive concerto repertoire has seen him perform around the UK and Europe, and as an accompanist he has recorded a number of CD’s notably with Yuki Ito for Sony and Anna Hashimoto on the Meridien label.

The intimate setting of the Croft Hall is perfect for Anthony and Daniel’s programme, which will include the Poulenc Sonata, Szalowski Sonata and Brahms Sonata in F minor, as well as the premiere of an exciting new piece written by Anthony.

Anthony and Daniel are leading a masterclass for young local players during the afternoon preceding the concert – details from artsforhungerford@gmail.com
