1,500 homes suffer power failure in Newbury and Thatcham

Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) confirmed that the houses, in areas including Shaw, Ashmore Green and Henwick, lost power at about 5.10pm.
Simon O’Loughlin from SSE said the cause was not yet known but that engineers were on the scene trying to restore power to all the homes.
He apologised for the inconvenience caused and said that the priority was to get power back on to all the houses.
