£10,000 donation for new Mary Hare accomodation

Last Wednesday, a cheque was presented to the school, for profoundly and severely deaf children, by St James’s Place Foundation, which helps young people with health difficulties, young carers and young people who are socially or economically disadvantaged.
The school is now £30,000 short of its £1,800,000 target for the Murray House Appeal to fund new boarding accommodation at the school.
Pupils are set to move into the accommodation next week as they return after half-term, with the £10,000 going towards furniture and computer equipment in the communal study rooms for GCSE pupils.
The fundraising events manager for the Mary Hare Foundation said, Antonia McAlpine, said: “Providing well equipped communal rooms will ensure that pupils attending the school experience the optimum accommodation and study facilities during their GCSE year.
“As well as improving on pupils’ already excellent academic achievements, the communal rooms can also enhance the children’s social development, allowing their social and language skills to develop more fully.”
School principal, Tony Shaw, added: “The St James’s Place Foundation has been extremely generous to Mary Hare in the past and we are delighted that they have been able to support us again in our final stages of The Murray House Appeal.”
