Ground-breaking project to combine 10 tracks, 10 paintings, 10 videos inspired by Brothers Grimm
PROLIFIC Newbury-based singer/ songwriter and multi instrumentalist Nasser Bouzida is hard at work. He has just released a new Big Boss Man single on Spinout Nuggets records, limited vinyl edition of 500 copies, and he has also embarked on a ground-breaking project that aims to combine 10 new tracks with 10 paintings and 10 videos all with the fairytales of the Grimm brothers as inspiration.
The new single features Do The Backstroke as the A-side with Mother’s Earth on the B-side. (Just being able to use those terms is wonderfully ‘retro’).
Big Boss Man have been producing hip Hammond soaked Latin/soul/ R&B grooves since 1998 and have played hundreds of shows across the UK and Europe, including Russia, while their music has been used in numerous films and TV productions.
The new single was released on Friday.
The Grimm’s project has already achieved an exhibition of paintings (acrylic on board) at a Spanish gallery and the work is suggestive of the exuberant psychedelic rock posters of the 1960s.
The project overall transplants the themes of the Grimm’s stories to 1967 with music and videos to augment the artwork. An expansive and intriguing concept.
I, for one, can’t wait to hear and see the results.
Many people will, I am sure, recall the ‘concept albums’ of the late 1960s.
This takes that legacy and adds video and art pieces to create something new in a unified vision.
Exciting stuff.
