100-year-old Jim Dearlove celebrates his milestone birthday with a game of golf at Deanwood Park

Happy 100th birthday Jim!

Newbury resident Jim Dearlove turns 100 today (Friday) and to celebrate he played the first hole at Deanwood Park golf club with his friends.

With a combined age of 362, the four friends still enjoy a weekly four-ball at the Stockcross golf club, with yesterday's game proving to be an extra special one.

Jim was joined by Ian, 81, Tom, 95 and Cliff, 86.

He told the Newbury Weekly News that his friends were "very tolerant" with him but they just all enjoyed themselves.

"Now I have turned 100, I have still got plenty of enthusiasm to try to beat the course," he added. "It's tough going these days, but I have got some very good friends who are very toleral of me and we just enjoy ourselves and that's the main thing, enjoy golf."
