12-hour memorial pool marathon at The Old London Apprentice raises over £1,700 for Newbury Cancer Care




A local pub’s pool team put on a 12-hour charity pool marathon in memory of one of their former teammates.

The Old London Apprentice’s B pool team held the memorial fundraising event at the pub on Saturday, November 2 in memory of their “great mate” Huw Gage.

The pool marathon raised over £1,700 for Newbury Cancer Care, more than three times their initial target of £500.

A pool team spokesperson said: “Huw was a massive part of our lives, and this is our way of giving back in his memory while doing some good.”

The pool marathon began at 10am and the evening ended with karaoke, with many songs being dedicated to Huw’s memory.
