Thames Valley Police appealing for witnesses after Walton Way assault
A 15-year-old Newbury boy was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent after an assault involving a weapon occurred near Turnpike yesterday.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which occurred at around 1.10pm on Walton Way yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).
The victim, a man in his twenties, sustained a laceration to his hand. He was taken to hospital, and has since been discharged. The arrested boy has been bailed.
Investigating officer Detective Inspector Alice Broad said: “I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information about this incident to please get in touch.
“We are still establishing the circumstances of this assault and are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to this incident.”
Following the assault, an area near Walton Way was cordoned off by police. A Thames Valley Police helicopter was spotted overhead around 2pm and there were eyewitness reports of armed officers on patrol.
DI Broad urged those who might have been in the area yesterday to check their CCTV or dash-cam footage to see if they might have captured something that could assist the police with their investigation.
She also stated that anyone who had information should call 101 or make a report on the TVP website, quoting reference number 43220169421.
