1st Newbury Scout Group opens another unit in West Berkshire
Due to popular demand, the 1st Newbury Scout Group has opened another unit — the Kimber Scouts.
Since opening in September, Kimber Scouts have been hiking, storming castles, navigating, pioneering and developing skills for life.
Scouts also enjoyed a sleepover at the Imperial War Museum Duxford.
Scout, Tilly, said she enjoys: “Exploring and learning new things, like staying in the nuclear bunker.”
And the volunteer-run unit will be taking on more exciting challenges during the summer from bushcraft skills, tomahawk throwing and ice skating.
Kimber Scouts meets in Newbury each Monday and teaches essential life skills, such as wiring a plug or changing a bike tyre, which young people may otherwise never learn at home or at school.
