1st Wash Common Scout Group emjoy family camp




THE 1st Wash Common Scout Group have held their first post-pandemic Family Camp at Youlbury Scout Activity Centre near Oxford.

Around 130 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and their parents spent a couple of nights under canvas.

The young people took part in a wide range of activities over the weekend including facing fears with climbing and a high ropes course, learning backwoods cooking skills, trying their hand and fencing and axe throwing.

Rob Daniels, Group Scout Leader Rob Daniels said Beavers, Cubs and Scouts all learn skills for life, discover new interests and hobbies, learn essential team building and leadership skills and while having an amazing amount of fun.

He added: "After a three year pause, it was fantastic to be able to be back camping again as a Scout group.

"Huge thanks to the volunteers who helped organised it and catered for 130 people for a weekend, which is no mean feat.

"A highlight for me was the atmosphere at the Saturday night campfire where we all came together for marshmallows and a sing song."
