5k cancer run returns to Newbury

It marks the third time that the annual event has been held in Newbury and will be the 7th year that it has run since its creation in October 2006.
The event was founded by former local man Robert Dore, who came up with the idea of organising a 5k charity run, to ensure that as many people as possible can raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The run is open to men and boys of all ages and has taken inspiration for the women’s equivalent, Race for Life.
Last year a total of 278 men participated and Mr Dore said they had set themselves a target of a thousand people taking part this year.
The event has been popular in previous years, managing to raise an incredible £9,400 in 2012.
