82-year-old Teresa Dykes to complete her second wing walk for Youth at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church

An 82-year-old woman will be wing walking on a biplane for the second time in seven years to raise money for a local youth organisation.

Teresa Dykes will be taking part in the acrobatic air display on Tuesday, May 7 and she is doing so to raise funds for Youth at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church and the local parishes of Newbury, Thatcham, Hungerford and Pangbourne.

Mrs Dykes, who is known by many in the church as their very own Mother Teresa, has already raised over £3,000 before she even lifts off next week.

She said: “Our Catholic youth are in dire need of your help to support them in exploring their faith, together.

“A few years ago, for my 75th birthday, I did a wing walk. This time I'm doing it again, hopefully with loop-the-loops, to raise awareness and much needed funds for our youth.

“This will mean that they can go on days out together, and pay for some of them to go to a youth festival where they can experience their living faith with tens of thousands of other young people.”

Her friend Ellen Clinch said: “Everyone who knows Teresa knows what an amazingly positive inspirational human she is.

“Warm, caring and with the biggest heart. Someone we should all aspire to be more like.”
