A baaa-rilliant time to be had in West Berkshire today (Sat)
It’s lambing weekend at Bradfield’s Rushall Farm, and from 11am to 5pm both today and tomorrow (Sun), you will be able to pay a visit to the lambing sheds to see lambs being born, and will have the chance to bottle feed newly born lambs.
There will also be plenty of calves and piglets to visit, while tractors and trailer rides will be on offer.
If you’re thinking about volunteering, head down to the Thatcham volunteer recruitment fair at the Catholic Hall, Bath Road, between 10am and 3pm.
A total of 22 organisations will be present, including ABC to Read, Thatcham Community Transport, The Thatcham Charity, Age UK and Thatcham Vision.
At 11am, a performance at Arthur’s Dreamboat, which tells the story of a boy who grows a boat on his head, at the Corn Exchange promises to be fun for all the family.
An afternoon of racing is also on the agenda, with The Racecourse Newbury holding its jump season finale, with the first race at 1.50pm.
The 79th Reading Scout Group is also holding a car boot sale at Armour Hill, Tilehurst, from 11am to 1pm, with a mix of indoor and outdoor stalls.
And at 7.45pm, the Newbury Choral society will be hosting a guided tour of sacred music through the ages, looking back at six centuries of music written for Christian worship.
At the event, at Douai Abbey, Woolhampton, Newbury soprano Janet Coxwell will perform solos and the choral society will be joined by a professional string quartet.
