A call to council to sort overflowing dog bins in Thatcham

Overflowing dog bins have yet again become a cause of concern in Thatcham.

A town councillor said he has been approached by members of public in the street asking for action.

In a full meeting of Thatcham Town Council, the councillor, Jeremy Cottam (Lib Dem, Thatcham North East), called on West Berkshire Council (WBC) to "do better".

He said emptying of the bins does get better following complaints but after a month or two, they’re full again.

“They’re full, they’re more than full, they’re overflowing,” he said.

“I’d suggest if it’s full, take it home, but that’s admission of a failure.

“If the volume is such, get a bigger bin.

“I would plead with my executive [WBC] member here that we look at this."
