A first for new gallery

Milan artist sells at Hungerford's Living Art opening weekend

FRIDAY’S opening of the new gallery, Living Art in Hungerford, proved a success, with several pieces selling. After the huge amount of work getting the Bridge Street venue up and running, gallery owner Justin Cook was pleased with how it went, but knows that building a regular local following will take longer to achieve. He said: “Although delighted, we are not getting carried away as this is a long distance race and not a sprint. “What we are really excited about, however, is that we managed to bring an established international artist, Luigi Veggetti, to show in Hungerford before London – and to then sell both his pieces in the opening weekend is a testament to the sophistication and taste of clients that live in the surrounding area.” More “Luigis” are due to arrive at the gallery soon.
“We also sold JK Brown’s Pheasant which gave us real satisfaction, and Matthew Broussard’s Bacchanale, the beautiful 12K white gold leaf upon mild steel piece, was pourchased for a customer’s new wine basement.” Living Art represents this US artist in the UK.
“The Pete Doherty limited edition prints are also gaining real traction and we have sold one, with another on hold, so fingers crossed on that one. “They are an excellent production of quality from a truly iconic character... did someone say marmite?”
Justin is encouraging visitors to go and view the artworks that have been sold before the pieces leave and go to their new homes, the pieces will be there for another week or so before they leave.
“Now we have the luxury of re-stocking the gallery and thinking about our Christmas show that will open in early December. I will soon be off to Europe to meet with some new artists and decide who comes to Living Art next.”
Living Art is open Tuesday to Friday, 11am to 5pm, Saturday, 11am to 6pm, Sunday, noon to 3pm, and other times by appointment. www.livingart.global
