A lifetime to grow, just minutes to cut
Nine-year-old Mia Lane, of Wasing Lane, has never had her hair cut in her life, but is having to now owing
to the potential danger its extreme length might cause.
Mia and her mother initially looked into the idea of selling Mia’s hair to make her a bit of extra pocket money, but the Aldermaston Primary School pupil had something else in mind.
So now Mia has decided to get sponsorship for having her hair cut and also donate her hair to Little Princess Trust.
Little Princess Trust provides real-hair wigs, free of charge, to children that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses.
Her mother, Frances Lane, said: “When she said she wanted to donate it, I was very proud of her.
“I didn't even know you could donate your hair.
“She stood up in class and told them she was going to have it cut for charity - they were full of questions and were really interested.
“At her school it has taught them that it’s not about the money.”
Mia added: “I’m not really excited about having it cut, I’m a bit scared but I don’t think it will hurt.
“I thought this was such a good cause.”
