A P McCoy among line-up at Newbury Racecourse pogo challenge fundraiser
The jockeys, including AP McCoy, Mick Fitzgerald, Sam Thomas, Dom Elsworth, Andrew Tinkler and Choc Thornton, will swap their horses for pogo sticks to take on eventers Laura Collett, Lucy Jackson, Emily King and Bruce Haskell, in a jump-off to raise funds for the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation.
The fundraiser has been organised by former eventer Claire Lomas, who famously walked the London Marathon three years ago in a bionic suit, following a riding accident in 2007 which left her paralysed.
“I am heading towards raising £500,000 to help find a cure for paralysis,” said Ms Lomas.
Tickets for the event, Pogo Pandemonium, are priced at £65 and include entry to an auction, a two-course meal and live music from The Likes.
After-dinner tickets, priced at £32, are available from www.claireschallenge.co.uk
Alternatively, send a cheque, payable to Claire Lomas Walk Campaign, together with an SAE to: Claire Lomas, Sunnyside, Eye Kettleby, Melton Mowbray, Leics, LE14 2TD.
