English Wine Week celebrated in style at The Vineyard Hotel in Stockcross with All Angels sparkling wine bash
English Wine Week ended on a high note at The Vineyard Hotel & Spa in Stockcross at the weekend.
Guests gathered on the hotel’s front garden for the All Angels Wine Bash on Sunday (June 29) — a relaxed, sun-drenched afternoon celebrating the best of English sparkling wine and seasonal cuisine.
Under clear summer skies, attendees were welcomed with a chilled glass of All Angels Classic Cuvée NV, setting the tone for a leisurely afternoon filled with acoustic music and refined pairings.
Executive chef at The Vineyard, Tom Scade introduced the afternoon's menu, showcasing dishes designed to complement the character of All Angels’ award-winning wines. Highlights included Berkshire trout with jasmine, cucumber, apple marigold, and Berkshire pork belly paired with brioche crumb and fresh, pickled peach — all crafted to reflect the region’s finest seasonal ingredients.
Mark Darley, founder of All Angels Vineyard located just a short distance away in Enborne, captivated the crowd with an introduction to each wine served. Guests began their tasting journey with the Classic Cuvée 2014 (Long Aged on Lees), paired with Pea Royale, lovage, and pecorino — a combination that highlighted the finesse and structure of English sparkling wine.
The afternoon unfolded with curated wine pairings accompanying each course of The Tasting Room Spring Menu.
“English Wine Week gives us the perfect opportunity to spotlight the incredible quality and diversity of wines being produced on our doorstep,” said Romain Bourger, director of wine and beverage at The Vineyard. “By bringing together local producers, sustainable practices, and seasonal ingredients, we're creating an authentic celebration of British terroir that honours both tradition and innovation.”
The event marked a fitting conclusion to English Wine Week — an elegant, immersive experience that left guests with a deeper appreciation for the craft and care behind local wine and cuisine.
