Hungerford has a treat in store for food fans

THERE will be a huge range of food-based entertainment in Hungerford this coming weekend (September 11).

This month's Hungerford Food & Artisan Market is combining with a Heritage Festival as part of Heritage Open Days week, to pay tribute to the rich traditions of British food and rural life.

Visitors can find out about the Town & Manor of Hungerford's historic Picket Mead orchard, have a go at milking Daisy the cow, make their own butter, meet some cute ferrets, watch them race and find out about their working history dating back to the Middle Ages.

There will also be traditional cooking demonstrations and more than 40 local stalls to browse offering everything from local beer, cider, honey, beef and rapeseed oil to scones, fudge, pies, organic sourdough bread, wooden chopping boards and artisan gifts.

With Garston Gallopers Morris dancing and live music throughout the day and lots of street food, there will be something for everyone.

The event takes place at The Croft Centre between 10am and 3pm.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome and although there is limited parking at The Croft, the car parks in town are free on Sundays.
