Serious crash between car and lorry closes A34 in both directions
A serious crash involving a car and a lorry has closed the A34 in both directions.
The A34 is currently closed between the A343 Wash Water junction and the A303 Tot Hill junction and the closure is likely to remain in place for several hours.
Hampshire police, fire and ambulance services are at the scene.
The event is expected to clear and normal traffic conditions are expected to return between 5.30pm and 5.45pm.
Road users travelling northbound on the A34 are advised to exit the A34 at the Tot Hill Interchange, heading towards the B4640 towards Newbury.
Then at the roundabout with the A339, take the 1st exit on to the A339 before continuing on it through Newbury to the A34 Donnington Link Interchange. Then rejoin the A34 northbound.
Southbound travellers are advised to follow the same diversion, but in reverse.
The northbound diversion has been signed on site with the solid diamond diversion symbol, and the southbound diversion with the solid triangle diversion symbol.
