A34 fuel spillage brings traffic chaos
A DIESEL spill following a collision between two lorries has closed the southbound A34 and caused traffic chaos this morning (Wednesday).
The A34 southbound between the A4185 Chilton Interchange and junction 13 of M4 is currently still closed according to the Highways Agency.
The diesel spillage was caused by a collision between two lorries, causing huge traffic tailbacks and prompting the closure of the southbound lane.
Thames Valley Police spokeswoman Rebecca Webber said: "We were called at 2.30am following a collision between two articulated lorries. No one was injured and the road closure is being dealt with by the Highways Agency."
Highways Agency spokesman, Richard Oakley, said: "It was a substantial amount of diesel. Initially it was thought that the road would be reopened by 7.30am but this has now been revised at 9.30am."
On the M4, queues were backed up between junctions 13 and eight as a result of the incident.
Update, 10.50am Wed
Both lanes of the A34 between the A4185 Chilton Interchange and junction 13 of M4 were re-opened shortly before 10am, the Highways Agency has confirmed
