Watch manager of green watch at Newbury Fire Station, Richard Young, said three pumps were called to the A34 southbound at 7pm including two from Newbury and one from Didcot, along with the heavy rescue unit from Tilehurst, following a three car collision involving a 4 x 4, Astra and Mini.
Firefighters made the vehicles safe, with the road closed during the recovery, due to the three cars being spread across both lanes.
No-one was trapped.
A woman was treated at the scene for neck pain and taken to hospital by ambulance.
Firefighters left the scene after two hours.
